 Abstract:
»'The Seven Sages' are distributed over three continents and circulated in different variants in pre-modern times. With a female rapist at the center of the narrative, it has been perceived as an example of the 'misogynist Middle Ages'. Taking account of trans-cultural gender-research in medieval studies, this article offers another interpretation.«
